Needs Love

When we sold our 100 plus year old home to live in a fifth wheel we said “never again”. All that hard work renovating and maintaining an older home, too much! Only fresh and new for us, no more hard work . So what did we do?

We bought an older, needs love, mobile home in a nice RV park 50 minutes east of where we are now.

This unit is 14ft wide and 60ft long with two bedrooms and two bathrooms, space for a washer and dryer and maybe even a dishwasher. It has a screened patio and a covered carport on a large treed lot.

After five years in a 35ft fifth wheel (one winter in Canada) we are beginning to feel a little cramped, and after the difficult trip we had coming south this past fall, we felt it was time to make some changes. See Trip from Hell, Trip from Hell Continues, and Trip from Hell Ends.

We plan on buying a small camper van for our trips back and forth. Don’t want to give up seeing new places on our travels, we just want to make it easier. Right now I don’t tow, so all the driving is Mike’s responsibility. I’m a great navigator, though. I’ll be able to share the driving chores which means we can get further each day.

Not planning on moving in this winter. Have to put in a new water heater, heat pump and upgrade the electric service.

We want to put in new laminate flooring and it needs both bathrooms redone. I don’t know what to do in the kitchen yet. Of course a fresh coat of paint inside and out wouldn’t hurt either.

New cabinets or repaint?

But the range hood has to go.

Here we go again! Actually I am excited about the whole adventure. Growing old with nothing to look forward to would be such a drag.

  2. Congratulations on your new winter home. Will keep you and Mike busy renovating it. Is it the same one you mentioned to me earlier? Hopefully, I will see you in the Spring.

  3. It looks great and must seem like a palace after a fith wheel. Good luck with the renovations. I don’t think it is ugly!

  4. How brilliant ! We’ve lived in a mobile home for the past 8 years and wouldn’t change it for the world. It feels like I’m on hols all the time !

  5. At Home in the Home

    • We still plan on traveling, just easier. A mobile home here a mobile home in Canada and a B class camper for our travels. That way I can share the driving and he can share the navigating. We’ll see who’s better at each other’s job
