We are staying in a great little campground just south of Guelph Ontario. Who’d ‘a thunk there was a park so close to the city that had all the amenities we want and none of the things we don’t want. Peace and quiet, a pool, laundry, Friday night barbecues or deck parties and other activities- do want. Weekend warriors, noise, and party animal vacationers- don’t want.

This park, situated on the Speed river has many sites backing on the river with large decks over looking the water. These are permanent sites, so although we would prefer to be on the river we had to settle for a site on the pond with a great view out our back window and a large treed lot.

The pond has many residents. All gone now, thankfully, Canada geese raised their families in the relative safety of the quiet water. Two foot long carp drift just under the surface and painted turtles soak up the sun on the bank.

It is a quiet park, open from April 1st to Oct 31st, that caters to snow birds and winter Texans who pack up at the end of October to head for warmer weather south.

Our departure date is mid November so we will have to spend a couple of weeks in Milton, at the campground where we wintered two years ago.

Just over a month before we leave. I’m counting the sleeps!

  1. My brother lived in Guelph and went to university there, I hope you have a lot of opportunities to visit the city because it’s beautiful! Some of the streets and houses remind me of a Harry Potter movie 🙂

  2. Looks like a wonderful park! Are you going back to Americana this year?

    • Yes we are booked there, but we are looking for something more permanent so if we can’t find it there we will look further afield. Still in the valley though.

  3. Counting the sleeps! That made me smile. I haven’t heard that in a while.
