Welcome to the Trailer…..Just Another Day in Paradise

Enid & Mike at the dog show

Ahhh!  The days are just filled…..

What does one do while spending the winter in a fifth wheel in South Texas? Well that’s  a tough one to answer. There is plenty to do, but nothing gets accomplished.

Last week we had a day packed with stuff to do. Weather was a little hot (around 90F, that’s about 30C in Canada), so some pool time was in order.

Scheduled for this day was a doggie parade; dress-up or not, depending on the dog’s temperament and owner’s imagination.

Most of the dogs behaved well, even their owners were on their best behaviour. Boscoe held up the rear with a running commentary and numerous stops at his special friends’ trailers for treats. Just like Halloween trick or treating.

Parade over in time for entertainment. An acrobat and dog act. Tinkerbell and Willy have entertained all over the world. For a couple of older performers( he was 78 and she didn’t disclose) they are in great shape and full of enthusiasm. They were great fun to watch,  we enjoyed their outdoor show.

There was some juggling, balancing, magic, and their 4 little dogs were seasoned veterans.They even included some audience participation.

After the show we went back to the neighbors’ trailer for a pot luck dinner to celebrate Doc & Carma’s 59th wedding anniversary and bid them farewell till next winter as they were leaving for home the next morning.

Just another day in the life of a trailer traveler. Not typical, but close.

  1. Just wondering where in south Texas are you? We are in Port Aransas right now. We hadn’t planned to come here but glad we did. We spent about three weeks here two years ago and loved it.

    • Hi Margaret;

      We are in Mission, in the Rio Grande Valley. Will be heading back to Port Aransas and Rockport at the end of the month on our way home to Canada. Just love the fresh fish up there and are looking forward to it again. It is warmer and drier and less windy down here in the R.G.V. a great place for Winter Texans in January and February. You might like to try it next year. The park we are staying in is The Americana RV Resort, a small but friendly park. We are planning on coming back next winter.
